To commemorate Emancipation Day on 1st December we uploaded a film-poem titled "Coming Home". This piece is featured in Khoe Story 2 and was written in remembrance of slavery and a present day amnesia being almost hynotised by media and technology. The poem seeks to address memory, particularly memory housed in present-day colonial buildings. Thus "Coming Home" speaks to a returning of memory and a sense of appeasement of ancestry by remembering.
It initially played as a loop at Hiddingh Campus as part of the GIPCA Excuberance project.
Musical accompaniments by Glen Arendse, cinematography and editing by Nafia Kocks and make-up by Yasmina Effendi.
